The 'Gorillaz Almanac' is due out October 16

20 years after their founding, Gorillaz are sticking true to their roots by celebrating with visual art.

The band announced the Gorillaz Almanac, a new book published in partnership with Z2 Comics to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The hardcover book features over 120 pages of full color artwork from Gorillaz artist Jamie Hewlett.

The book features exclusive new artwork, the first ever comic strip starring 2D, Noodle, Murdoc, and Russel Hobbs, as well as puzzles, games, and special guest appearances from Gorillaz collaborators “past and present.”

The book is set for an October 16 release and comes in a standard, deluxe, and super deluxe edition. The standard edition of the Gorillaz Almanac comes with the hardcover book and the music from the first season of their project Song Machine.

The deluxe edition is limited to 6,666 copies (at Murdoc’s request) and comes with four art prints and sticker sheets signed by Murdoc, Russel, Noodle, and 2D. The super deluxe edition is limited to a run of 200 and will feature a special art piece in unique packaging signed by Jamie Hewlett.

The band’s Song Machine project foregos the traditional album concept as Gorillaz release a single with a corresponding music video. The first song from the project, “Momentary Bliss,” was released earlier in 2020.

“Song Machine is a whole new way of doing what we do. Gorillaz breaking the mold ‘cos the mold got old,” the band shared in a statement at the time. “World is moving faster than a supercharged particle, so we’ve gotta stay ready to drop. We don’t even know who’s stepping through the studio next. Song Machine feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos. So whatever the hell’s coming, we’re primed and ready to produce like there’s no tomorrow.”
